This is probably the most unexpected title decider in ATP history. Qualifier Valentin Vacherot from Monaco takes on his cousin, unseeded Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the final of the Shanghai Masters. Here’s our match prediction.

The 26-year-old has had to win eight matches in Shanghai. Five seeded players have been beaten and on Saturday he defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
There’s been one previous meeting between these two players. That was won by Rinderknech on a hard court but played seven years ago.
It’s not been too successful a year for Rinderknech but he’s seen improved form since August. He made it to the last 16 in the US Open and is now in only his second ATP Tour final, the other being in 2022.
He’s also been beating several seeds in this tournament. Saturday’s win over 16th-seeded Daniil Medvedev was the fifth he’s beaten so far in Shanghai. The Frenchman is now a career-high 28th in the live rankings. All of this after being a set down in round one before his opponent retired.
