Fourth seed Anna Bondar meets unseeded Alina Charaeva in the WTA Hamburg quarter-finals marking their first career meeting. Bondar has a superb record in Hamburg, and this prediction tips her to win here.

Bondar has never failed to reach the Hamburg final. She won this title on her debut two seasons ago when the tournament was briefly categorized as a 125 event. Upon being upgraded to a 250 tournament last year, Bondar reached the final.

With a strong start to the week and continued success on clay, she will fancy her chances of challenging for the title again.

Bondar, who has registered 15 of her 23 victories this season on clay, defeated Noma Noha Akugue via a decider in the last round. She has moved up to 92nd in the live ranking.

Charaeva is enjoying her best run at a tour event this week. Last week in Iasi, she won her first match in the main draw on tour, finishing in the second round.

In Hamburg, she has reached the last eight and is just two wins away from the final. It hasn’t been easy, though, for the Armenian, as in both of her matches, she has clawed her way from losing positions.

Charaeva lost the opening set in both of her matches. She fought back against Sara Sorribes Tormo in the first round and then against eighth seed Sinja Kraus.

After the win over Kraus, Charaeva has moved up to 107th in the live ranking.
