Alejandro Tabilo is set to face off with Alexei Popyrin in the second round of the French Open on Wednesday. The first meeting between the two will produce the winner to take on Casper Ruud or Nuno Borges. Read on for our prediction of the match.

Tabilo was expected to easily see off wildcard Arthur Cazaux in the last round, but he was made to sweat for it. He lost the first and fourth sets, in the end winning in five.

The Chilean will have played two more hours than Popyrin by the time they clash. Across his last five matches, Tabilo has dropped six sets, compared to Popyrin’s run in the same period.

Popyrin is not the smoothest of operators on the clay court, but he will view this as a winnable encounter. In his first-round outing, the Aussie claimed an easier win compared to Tabilo.

His opponent, Yoshihito Nishioka, retired in the third set after being troubled by injury throughout. In the end, he spent two hours less on the court compared to Tabilo, who was pushed the distance.

That win saw him extend his good run on clay to 7-5. It was his third victory in the last four matches, and now he seeks to reach the third round for the first time at the French Open.
