Strasbourg vs Rennes Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

12th placed Strasbourg will host 8th placed Rennes in Ligue One on Sunday (3.05pm kick off) as the Bleu et Blanc and their manager, ex-Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira, try to end a run of four successive home defeats at the Stade de the Meinau. Despite being just four places below their opponents, Strasbourg are ten points worse off than Rennes. They did end a run of eight games without a win in their final game before the international break, which they won 3-1 at struggling Nantes. That win was their first since a trio of wins between 10th and 20th December as they lost five and drew 3 of their next eight games. Of late, Strasbourg's away form has been markedly better than their home, where they have lost four of their last five at home, winning one, they have lost just one away from home, drawing three and winning one.

Rennes come into this game in excellent form and very confident. Their 8th position in the tabel is reflective more of their early season struggles than their current form which has seen them lose just one of their last ten Ligue 1 games, winning seven and drawing the other two. They are unbeaten in their last six games away from home, drawing 3 and winning 3 in that period and they have also won five of the last seven at home too (losing the other two). Julien Stephan will be delighted with the way his team is playing at the moment and they are hot on the heels of Marseille in seventh, who face a tough game with PSG this weekend. Rennes have scored in all of their last five away games and have notched up 10 goals across those five matches, conceding six.
