Stuttering Kaizer Chiefs and Supersport United United will face off at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in the PSL on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently tenth in the league standings, while the visitors are fifth. Something has gone very badly wrong for Kaizer Chiefs lately. They were forced out of the top half of the table last week when they suffered a hugely disappointing 1-0 loss to relegation candidates Richards Bay on the road. That result marked AmaKhosi’s third defeat in a row and was their fifth consecutive league match without a victory. Since the Africa Cup of Nations, they have only managed a single win in all competitions and only scored three goals in their last nine games. Chiefs have now gone over 400 minutes of football without finding the net. At home, they have won three, drawn one, and lost two of their last six games, though none of those matches saw more than a single goal scored. While the hosts are marginal favourites, they were beaten by this opponent 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season. 

Meanwhile, it has not been much better lately for Supersport United, who spent the majority of the first half of the season in the top three. Following a 2-0 home loss to Chippa United last week, they have now fallen five points behind the CAF Confederation Cup qualification spot and could drop as low as eighth place if they lose here and other results go against them. The loss to Chippa marked Matsatsantsa’s fifth consecutive match without a win and ninth in a row in league competition. The last time they won a PSL fixture was agaisnt Orlando Pirates just before Christmas. On the road, Supersport are winless in their last four league games, including three consecutive draws ahead of this one. Historically, matches between these two have been low-scoring affairs and there’s little to suggest otherwise this time.
