In this article, we are going to focus on looking at which countries you can play at Stake.com, or at their local version of the Stake.com site. And perhaps equally as importantly, we’ll explore the locations of the world where you cannot currently gain access to the site.

In fact, it is considerably easier to list the countries where you CANNOT play at Stake.com. And if your country is not on that list, you should be good to play at the site!

Countries Where Online Gambling Operates in a ‘Grey’ Area

Another thing to consider is that in a number of countries around the world, the gambling industry is still very much in a state of evolution. In these areas of the world, gambling while not illegal, is also not strictly legal, or only partly legal.

This makes things somewhat confusing for residents and also for companies like Stake.com who want to offer their products to as many people as possible.

Some of the countries around the world where the gambling industry is undergoing rapid change include: -

  • China

Gambling is technically illegal in China, however the government does not enforce this policy stringently. As a result, Chinese citizens can access and sign up with sites using VPN services to bypass any government censorship.

  • United States

The gambling industry is not regulated at a domestic level in the United States. Instead each state decides its own legislation for gambling. A growing number are now allowing online sites like Stake.us (the U.S. version of Stake.com) as well as other forms of gambling. Many are in the process of passing legislation to do so. However some states, notably Utah and Hawaii, are still resistant to allowing any form of gambling within its boundaries.

  • Brazil

The legal situation in Brazil regarding gambling is complex and currently changing. New legislation is being passed to allow certain types of gambling. Many experts feel Brazil will eventually adopt a more open approach to gambling in the country, given the tax revenue that could be raised by legalising gambling.

  • Ethiopia

Gambling is allowed in Ethiopia, but there is pressure from local groups to try and ban sports betting in the country. Whether this is effective or not remains to be seen.

  • Thailand

As a Buddhist country, only a state-run lottery and horse racing wagering are allowed in the country. Other gambling activities are prohibited, but many Thai gamblers still use the Internet to wager online.

  • Malaysia

While Malaysia does allow some form of gambling, such as lotteries and horse racing, it is still a country where the issue is a grey area. That’s because it is the religion of an individual that will determine whether gambling is allowed, or not.

  • United Arab Emirates

As a predominantly islamic country, gambling is illegal in the UAE, with some very heavy penalties for its citizens. However, the country is reforming its legal framework for gambling in a bid to modernise. Individuals are being given more social freedoms. The country is also in the process of building its first ever land-based casino.

It is also worth noting that Stake.com’s availability can change due to a number of factors including:

  • The company gained a licence to operate in a region.
  • Changes in legislation in a region which would allow online gambling.

As such, while every effort is taken to ensure the accuracy of this list, changes such as those above may mean that the circumstances change for a country on either list. To get more details about how Stake works, don't hesitate to check out our Stake review.
