Paris Saint-Germain: Europe’s Most Rampant Attacking Unit

Thirty-six teams kicked off the season hoping to be crowned the kings of Europe, but now only two remain standing, as Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal prepare to lock horns in the 2025-26 Champions League final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest this evening.

As discussed in detail in our PSG vs Arsenal prediction, Les Parisiens are the favourites heading into the contest, and they are looking to become only the second team to defend the UCL title (after Real Madrid) since Europe’s top tier was rebranded back in 1992.

The Red and Blues were crowned Ligue 1 champions for the fifth consecutive season a couple of weeks ago and are now set to feature in their third Champions League final in the last six years (lost to Bayern 2020-21 and beat Inter Milan in 2024-2025).

No team has featured in more Champions League finals than PSG since 2020-21!

After seeing off Bayern Munich in what is considered one of the greatest European semi-finals in recent history, the French giants are now unbeaten in their last 11 UCL knockout ties (W9 D2). They have also avoided defeat in their last nine matches against English opposition.

While PSG proved in the second leg of the semi-final that they are well capable of digging in defensively when needed, the cornerstone of their success in this competition has been their rampant attack that has netted 44 goals - the most in the Champions League since Barca in 1999-00.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been their chief contributor with 16 goal contributions (10 goals 6 assists) in 15 matches this season, followed by the reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele with seven goals, Vitinha with six goals, and Desire Doue on five.

In addition to this being PSG’s third UCL final, it will also be the third time that Luis Enrique will feature in Europe’s biggest match. The Spaniard has a 100% record in UCL finals, having steered Barcelona to the title in 2014-15 before his incredible 5-0 triumph over Inter Milan with the Parisiens last year.

Arsenal: The Champions League’s Meanest Defence

Arsenal are having an incredible year and proved to be the benchmark during the League Phase, finishing top of the table as the only team with a perfect record of eight wins from eight group-stage matches, which confirmed our Champions League predictions

The Gunners brought an end to their 22-year wait to win the Premier League this season and are now hoping to follow up by winning their first-ever Champions League. This is also a chance to get their revenge, as it was this very opponent that eliminated them from the UCL last season.

Only three English teams have ever won the Premier League and European Cup/ Champions League in the same season!

Mikel Arteta’s side boast the out-and-out strongest defensive record in Europe’s premier cup competition this season, conceding a mere six goals across 14 matches - an average of just 0.43 goals per 90 - with David Raya maintaining a remarkable nine clean sheets.

The English champions are the only team to have an unbeaten record in the UCL this season and have only been behind on the scoreboard for 43 minutes in their 14 games. Notably, the team that has scored first has gone on to win each of the last 11 Champions League finals.

Additionally, thanks to the rock-solid defensive partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, backed by Raya in goal, Arsenal have not conceded a single goal from open play since the start of this season’s knockout stage.

PSG vs. Arsenal: Head-to-Head Record

Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal will lock horns for the eighth time across all competitions this evening in Budapest, and as it stands, the record is perfectly balanced with each team having won two games apiece, while three matches ended in draw results.

However, it is the reigning kings of Europe that head into the final with the psychological advantage, as they beat the Gunners home and away in last season’s UCL semi-final, coming out 1-0 winners at the Emirates Stadium before securing a 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes.

PSG’s record against Premier League opposition in recent times has been extremely impressive. They knocked out Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal en route to the Champions League title last term, and have already sent Chelsea and Liverpool packing from the competition this season.
