Zizou Bergs vs Maximilian Marterer Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP French Open

It’s already been a big week for Zizou Bergs. His first-round win over the 24th seed Alejandro Tabilo has taken him into the top 100 for the first time. The qualifier now takes on unseeded Maximilian Marterer for a place in round three. The winner of this match will take on either tenth seed Grigor Dimitrov or unseeded Fabian Marozsán. Bergs had a previous career high of 102nd but is up to 91st after his first-round victory. He had to win three qualifying matches to reach round one, his first time in the main draw of this clay court Grand Slam. The first set was lost against Tabilo but he won the next three to progress. The Belgian reached the last 16 of this year’s US clay court championships and has won two clay court Challenger Tour titles. He’s up to 49th in the Live ATP Race.

Maximilian Marterer had a comfortable straight sets win over Jordan Thompson in round one. He only lost five games, all in the first two sets. Marterer reached the fourth round at Roland Garros in 2018 but in subsequent years lost his next five matches, three in the first qualifying round. Six years ago, he was as high as 45th in the rankings but is 101st in the latest list. His first-round win has taken him up to 85th but he’s only 143rd in the Live ATP Race. This year has been a bit of a disaster on the ATP Tour and his win over Thompson was his first main draw victory at the ninth attempt. We tip Bergs to win the match.
