Wolves vs Newcastle Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Devesh Jaganath in Premier League Predictions
The final curtain of a jam-packed gameweek four in the Premier League will come from the Molineux Stadium, where Wolverhampton Wanderers will be playing host Newcastle United on Sunday evening. Wolves enter this match in 18th place in the league standings, while the Magpies are in fifth place. Check out our prediction below.
Wolves were dealt one of the most difficult starts to the season possible, as they had to face London giants Arsenal and Chelsea in their first two matches of the campaign and ended up losing both. Newcastle, on the other hand, are still unbeaten after the first three games of the season and will be determined to keep that record intact.
The Toons won the last encounter between these sides fairly comfortably with a 3-0 scoreline at home last season and are the favourites in this contest. But can they follow up that result with another victory in the Black Country? Let’s get into the key stats at play in this one.

Wolves - Newcastle: Form Analysis
After losing each of their final three matches last season, Wolves’ dip in form seems to have followed them into the current campaign as they have only managed a single point from their first three games in 2024-25.
Gary O'Neil’s side were no match for the London clubs in their opening two games of the season, as they were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal before a second-half capitulation against Chelsea saw them beaten in their first home match of the season 6-2 last month.
However, the hosts did show improvement thereafter, beating Burnley 2-0 in the EFL Cup and taking a point away from the City Ground against unbeaten Nottingham Forest ahead of the international break.
Still, Wolves have not beaten Newcastle in their last five attempts, losing three and drawing two!
Meanwhile, Newcastle United were bitterly unlucky last season, as they missed out on qualifying for Europe after Manchester United won the FA Cup, which saw the Red Devils earn a Europa League spot despite finishing eighth in the league.
Nevertheless, the Magpies have begun this season very promisingly, notching up victories over Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur either side of a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth in gameweek two.
Eddie Howe’s side are unbeaten in all competition this term following a win over Forest in the EFL Cup and have also scored in each of their last eight Premier League matches leading up to this one.

Wolves & Newcastle Squad Analysis
O'Neil has a few notable absentees heading into this encounter with all of Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez and Boubacar Traore currently sidelined due to knee injuries.
Yerson Mosquera picked up a knock on international duty with Colombia, and so too did Rayan Ait-Nouri and Mario Lemina for Algeria and Gabon respectively. All three are flagged as doubts for this weekend’s fixture.
Fabian Schar is eligible to return this week after headbutting Ben Brereton Diaz in gameweek one!
In addition to Schar, Howe will finally be able to call upon Sandro Tonali if he opts to, with the Italian now eligible to feature for his club side following his ban for breaching the league’s betting rules.
However, the Toons are still missing several first-team players through injury, including Sven Botman (knee), Jamaal Lascelles (knee), Lewis Miley (ankle), Callum Wilson (back) and Joe Willock (thigh).

Our Wolves vs Newcastle Prediction
Wolves have had a difficult start to the season, but much of their struggles can be attributed to their tough fixture schedule over the first few weeks, having to face three sides in four weeks who finished last season in the top seven.
Still, taking nothing away from Wolves, Newcastle have looked impressive in the early stages of the season. While we feel they will win this match, favourable odds allow us to opt for some safety with our money back on our primary wager.
