Matchday six in the A-League will see Western United taking on Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Sunday morning. Western are in ninth place in the league standings while Victory are third after the first five matches of the season. Let’s get into the match prediction.

Western United stumbled out the starting blocks this season, going their first four games without victory, drawing the first two before back-to-back losses in weeks three and four. 

However, they did manage to secure their first win of the campaign last week, overturning a one-goal deficit to beat a struggling Perth Glory 3-1 on the road. 

The hosts will now need to find the same type of performance on their home patch, where they have yet to win this season and have only managed one victory in their last five top-flight games. 

In complete contrast, Melbourne Victory made a very impressive start to the season, taking 10 points from their first four games with a draw and three consecutive victories. 

However, their momentum was halted last week when they travelled to face Wellington Phoenix, who found a late goal to secure the points and hand Victory their first loss of the campaign. 

Still, the visitors are clear favourites in this match and took four points off this opponent last season, beating them 2-1 at home and drawing 2-2 at this venue.
