By the time this game begins Real Madrid might not be top of the table, it all depends on how Barcelona get on at Atletico Madrid on Saturday afternoon. That possibility wouldn't have been the case if Madrid had managed to win at Valencia in midweek and go four points clear. Away form for Real is becoming a bit of a worry with two defeats in the last three on the road. They have won four of the last five league games though and also won at home against Napoli in the Champions League. Villarreal are sixth in the table and six points off the Champions League qualification places. They are unbeaten in their last four league games but did suffer a recent home loss to Valencia. Midweek saw them win away at Roma in the Europa League but they had lost the home leg 4-0.  With inability to win at home in the Copa del Rey, they have just one win in their last seven home league and cup games, not great form to take into a visit from Real Madrid.  A tough game to predict after that midweek loss for Real but the away side can get the win here to get back on track.
