Ospreys will travel to face Montauban in this 2025-26 Challenge Cup Group 1 round two clash on Saturday. Can Mark Jones’ side defeat their hosts and maintain their winning start to the campaign? Here is our prediction.
Montauban’s return to Europe for the first time in 15 years did not go as planned. They collapsed to a heavy 41-17 defeat against Zebre Parma in their Challenge Cup opener last week, losing both halves by double digits.
The prospects aren't looking good for the newly promoted side. They have yet to find their footing this season, and the Challenge Cup loss to Zebre Parma marked their 10th defeat from 12 games in all competitions this term. Sébastien Calvet’s side has also failed to win four of its five home games this season.
Away from their poor domestic form, Ospreys got off to a strong start to their Challenge Cup campaign. After trailing by 16 points in the first half, the Swansea-based club scored 19 points past Connacht Rugby in the second half to edge the visitors 24-21 in an all-URC opener. They have struggled in their recent away games, but have won four of their last five Challenge Cup matches dating back to last season.
