Both Ukraine and North Macedonia are coming from losses in their opening Group C matches and will be fighting to get off the bottom of the pool. Their opening matches were high scoring and after they came from behind, at some point seemed likely to walk off with a point. Ukraine were dominated for long spells by Netherlands but they showed great fighting spirit in the final minutes, as they scored twice. A late concession after a big fight left Ukraine dejected as Netherlands walked off with a 3-2 dramatic win. In terms of attacking quality, Ukraine should be the better side in this game; they have scored in each of their last seven matches and their transition from defence against the Dutch was great. Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk were on target against the Netherlands and the two have now scored six times in the last five matches. In their last seven competitive matches, Ukraine are winless, and have managed just one win in 10.

North Macedonia are the lowest ranked side in this group and playing at their first major tournament, they will be driven by upsetting the established sides. They lost 3-1 to Austria in the first game, but gave it a good shot, with veteran Goran Pandev scoring to level terms before his side was overpowered. They actually managed to hold on for long periods and were broken in the final 12 minutes. North Macedonia should take encouragement from their performance and knowing a tougher match comes in the final group game should push them to try and win this. They have scored in each of their last six matches, and failed in just one of the last 10. In their last five matches, they have three wins, with the Austria loss their first in the run. With only two clean sheets in eight matches, however, North Macedonia will have to be at their best to shut out Ukraine.
