The Red Sox take on the Blue Jays at the Rogers Center in downtown Toronto for this AL East showdown between two teams neck-and-neck in the standings. The Blue Jays are going for the sweep in the final game of this quick three-game series and have seen themselves leap Boston to second place in the AL East with two huge back-to-back wins. Toronto won a wild game two yesterday thanks to a Vlad Guerrero Jr. walk off base hit, completing a two run comeback in the  bottom of the ninth inning. The wins see Toronto leapfrog Boston into second-place in the AL East with a 42-32 record, giving the Jays a slight half game advantage over the 42-33 Sox. It was a much needed result for Toronto who had previously been on a 3-6 run while simultaneously snapping the Red Sox previous seven game winning streak.

Nick Pivetta takes the hill for the Red Sox with the 29-year-old righty sporting a 8-5 record on the year with a 3.25 ERA. Pivetta has pitched much better as of late and Boston has won eight of the last nine games where the six-year pro has started. His last start saw him go seven innings against Cleveland, giving up two runs off nine hits while striking out four. He’ll face off against Alek Manoah who gets the start for the Jays and will be looking to continue his incredible season. The second-year righty is 9-2 on the year with an intimidating 2.05 ERA which ranks second best in the American League. Manoah bounced back after giving up four runs to the best offense in baseball in the Yankees with a solid six inning, two earned runs and six strikeout performance against the Brewers in his last start. This should be an entertaining matchup with two pitchers who have impressed this season.
