We're guaranteed an American player in the last 16 of the Italian Open clay court tournament. The 11th seed Taylor Fritz is up against compatriot Sebastian Korda who is seeded 24th. In the next round, the winner of this match will face either eight seed Grigor Dimitrov or the qualifier Terence Atmane. Fritz has been better known for his performances on other surfaces but this year has been a big year for him on clay. He reached his first ever clay court final in Munich but was beaten by Jan-Lennard Struff. He followed that up with a run to the last four in the Madrid Masters. After beating wild card Fabio Fognini in round two of this tournament, he's moved up to 12th in the live rankings.and is tenth in the ATP Race. The only other time he got that far was in Bucharest. Two tournaments in Monte Carlo and Madrid saw him defeated at this stage. Korda has made it into the third round in Rome for the first time in his career. Like his opponent, he received a bye into round two and then beat Fabio Cobolli but needed three sets to do so, losing the middle one. We tip Fritz to win this match.
