An American League clash in Major League Baseball on Thursday sees the Tampa Bay Rays host the Los Angeles Angels at Tropicana Field. The Rays continue to chip away at the New York Yankees’ lead in the AL East and have whittled it down to only 7.5 games currently. A record of 68-55 sees Tampa Bay holding the second position in the division but are involved in a tight battle with the third-place Blue Jays who they lead by just half a game. It’s looking like it's going to come down to a neck-and-neck battle between the Rays, Blue Jays, Orioles and Mariners for the three Wild Card spots with the playoffs drawing ever closer. For the visiting Angels, a 52-72 record puts them all but out of contention and they lead only the Athletics for the worst record in the AL West.
