Sweden and Portugal go head to head for a spot in the next round when they meet at the Leigh Sports Village in Group C of the Women’s Euro Championships. Sweden had an excellent 1-1 draw in their opening match against a formidable Netherlands team and followed it up with a 2-1 win over Switzerland in their last match. They are equal on four points with the Netherlands but the Dutch women lead the group by virtue of a better goal difference. Sweden will want to convincingly win this match to claim the top spot. They need to better the result of the Netherlands to be assured of the top spot. In a worst case scenario Sweden only need a draw in this match to qualify for the next round. They are on an incredible run of results and are unbeaten in their last 14 matches with 12 wins and 2 draws.

Portugal have a record of one draw and one loss to leave them third in the group. They need a win to sneak into the next round but that won’t be an easy task against a Swedish side that is on a prolonged unbeaten run. Portugal have failed to win any of their last three matches and have just four wins in their last eleven matches across all competitions. Their away record is not great winning just three of their last eight matches with three loses and two draws.
