Sweden reached the quarter finals of the 2018 World Cup without ever looking that impressive. They beat South Korea and Mexico in the group stages but lost to a last minute goal against Germany. A terrible last sixteen game against Switzerland was won 1-0 but then they lost to England 2-0 in the quarter finals. Sweden have played one game since the World Cup and on Thursday went down to a 2-0 defeat away to Austria. This is their opening European Nations League game and a home win will make this group even more a shoot-out for top spot between themselves and Russia who beat Turkey 2-1 on Friday. The Swedes have only won three of their last ten games and have only won one of their last five home matches with the last two both ending goalless.

Turkey didn't qualify for the 2018 World Cup and got off to a bad start in this new European Nations League going down 2-1 at home to Russia conceding a goal in each half of the game. That's three games without a win for the Turks and only two wins in the last ten internationals they have played. Away form was a major reason they didn't qualify for the World Cup with only one win on the road in their qualifying group and that was against international newcomers Kosovo. Six away games have been played since that win in Kosovo with no wins and it's just one win in ten. Not an easy game to predict as neither side are in good form at present. A bet on under 2.5 goals being scored looks the best option.
