Sweden plays host to France in one of the top games as the UEFA Nations League takes off for the 2020/21 campaign. The League A, Group 3 clash will take place behind closed doors at the Friends Arena in Solna with the two nations seeking to build on good runs going to the clash. Sweden had four friendly matches canceled between March and June and as a result this will be their first game since the 1-0 win over Kosovo in January. That win stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches since their 3-0 loss to Spain back in June 2019 in the Euro qualifiers and the loss was the only time in 10 matches that Sweden failed to score. They have seven clean sheets in their last 10 matches and will be hoping to extend their defensive discipline to this clash against the world champions. Sweden have three straight clean sheets at home ahead of this clash, but those have come against much weaker opposition compared to the opponent they are going to face. In the last Nations League campaign, they finished top of a group that had Russia and Turkey and will be hoping to pull the same in this campaign, having been drawn against holders and European champions Portugal, Croatia, as well as the world champs. Seven of their last 10 competitive matches have produced over 2.5 goals and both sides have scored in four, with Sweden keeping five clean sheets.

France, on their part, had three friendly matches called off between March and June and they will head to this game on the back of a seven-game unbeaten run, with six wins therein. France finished second to Netherlands in their group in the last Nations League campaign and will be looking to do better this time. The last time they met with Sweden was in a World Cup qualifier in 2017, and that ended 2-1 in favor of Sweden but earlier, France had claimed two straight wins over Sweden. The loss to Turkey in June 2019, in the Euro qualifiers remains France’s only loss in their last 12 matches and also the only time they have failed to score in the last 12 matches. They have seven clean sheets in the 12 matches and will be looking to build on their run of four wins in their last five away matches. Their last three away matches have all ended in wins, with clean sheets.
