Stoke vs Bristol City Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Stoke City take on Bristol City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday. It is the final Championship league game of the season for both teams and it has not been a great season for either. Stoke manager Steven Schumacher has led his team to safety on the back of a run of six games that has seen them lose just once. However it was their two wins in their last two games, a crucial 3-0 home win over Plymouth and a superb 1-0 away win at Southampton last weekend, that mattered most. Those victories mean that Stoke City now lie 18th in the table and safe from relegation on 53 points. Schumacher’s charges have lost just one of their last five at home, winning two and drawing two. It is this recent form of five wins in their last ten at home and away, which has saved Stoke from the dreaded drop into League One.   

For Bristol City boss Liam Manning it has been a season of mid-table anonymity for the most part. Bristol City have never looked in any danger of relegation, but have also not made a realistic run at the playoffs either. What will be a source of frustration is that after a very inconsistent season, Manning’s team has found very good form. They have lost just one of their last nine games, drawing three and winning the other five. In that run, the defence has shone, conceding just four goals over that period. Depending on results, Bristol City could finish the season as high as ninth in the table, or as low as 12th and on balance of form, that position sums up their season; one that could have been better, but which also could have been much worse.
