Sunday night baseball sees two of the National League’s best teams face off when the St Louis Cardinals host the Atlanta Braves at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals have built up a solid six game lead over the Brewers and currently hold the top spot in the NL Central with a record of 73-54. The Cards were able to bounce back after dropping the first game of this series to the defending champion Braves, winning game two by a score of 6-5 thanks to two runs in the bottom of the ninth to seal the victory. The Braves will try to bounce back from the heartbreaking defeat and add to their 79-49 record which sees them sitting second in the NL East, just three games behind the first-place Mets.

The big righty has been very impressive this season and has shown excellent durability to be producing at such a high level at his age. For the visiting Braves, Jake Odorizzi will be looking to improve on his 5-5 record with a 3.95 ERA. Odorizzi had a strong outing in his last start but it did come against the lowly Pirates. We’re going to back the St Louis Cardinals to get the win in this game. Morale should be high in the clubhouse after the come from behind, bottom of the ninth victory against the defending champs. The Cards are an excellent hitting team and should be able to get to Odorizzi here, who isn’t quite the same pitcher that he was earlier in his career. Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright has been fantastic in this stadium this year and there is a good chance we see him pitch another gem against the Braves.
