Six wins in a row have made Senegal one of the leading fancies to win the 2019 African Cup of Nations. They qualified for this tournament by winning Group A winning five of their six games (drawing the other) and finishing six points ahead of Madagascar. 2017 saw them reach the quarter finals of this tournament losing out to the eventual winners Cameroon on a penalty shoot-out. They qualified for the 2018 World Cup finals but despite a win over Poland, they only finished third behind Japan on fairplay points. All good credentials and their recent form indicates that they will go deep into this tournament. Of their six recent wins, five have been with clean sheets.and up front they have Liverpool's Sadio Mane.The only game in which they did concede was the 2-1 win over Mali, a game in which they trailed going into the 87th minute.

Whereas Senegal are the highest ranked African nation at 22, Tanzania are down at 131. They are taking part in their first finals since 1980, the only other previous year in which they have qualified. To reach these finals, they finished second in Group L five points behind Uganda but two ahead of Lesotho (ranked 145th). It was their home form that earned them qualification and they failed to score a single goal on their travels earning just one point. They have only won one of their last four games, a home win over Uganda (ranked 80th). They last won an away game in 2017 with only one goal scored in their last five games.
