The San Francisco 49ers travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks in this Sunday's big NFL fixture. The two rivals will butt heads for the first time since playing out a thriller in gameweek 17 of last season, a dramatic last-ditch tackle by Dre Greenlaw helping the 49ers hang on to their lead and clinch a 26-21 victory. That win secured the NFC's No.1 seed but this clash won't offer such rewards as it's too early in the season for that. Having said that, the 49ers are in desperate need of a win in order to stay in contention for such spoils come that time of the year. Their 4-3 record has been substandard but a win over the Seahawks (5-1) could set them up nicely for the second half of the campaign. One issue preventing them from being at their best is a lengthy injury list. Reserves have stepped up in place of regular starters but they will need to play out of their skin to beat the regular starters of Seattle.

While the 49ers won in Seattle last season (going on to lose Super Bowl LIV), they lost on the previous eight occasions that they took the trip to the Emerald City. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has been in sterling form, creditng a new mentality with his 31-8 record following an in-season loss; it is the best record by a quarterback since the 1970 merger. However, Wilson isn't infallible and he made a few mistakes in the defeat at Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks put too much pressure on Wilson to mask the failings of a weak defence. Another high-scoring game is on the cards. We suggest backing over 54 points.
