The bottom two in Group I meet this weekend in a game with little on the line for both sides. Neither can really do much in this group, although the right results could see Kazakhstan move third. However, the top two is settled and these two are set to face a lot of work following a tough campaign. For the hosts, they’re set to end another campaign without a win. Since 1990, San Marino have picked up a single point from their European Championship qualifiers. The hosts aren’t exactly candidates for a result in this one after such a long period of struggle. They have scored just seven goals in that time, which is across 74 matches. Their awful form has left them bottom of this qualifying group once again, currently goalless and on the back of a string of heavy defeats.

However, Kazakhstan aren’t exactly in great shape. They come into this clash with just nine goals in eight games, while they have a long record of being poor on their travels. The visitors come into this one with just one win in their last seven. While we don’t think that will lead to them slipping up here, it’s tough to justify the handicap prices on offer with Kazakhstan on a poor run. San Marino are currently on a 16-game wait for a goal, so don’t expect anything from them going forward. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan have scored a single goal in 12 of their last 19 games. They are too goal-shy in this group while even their Nations League group was the same. In the bottom tier, they scored once at Andorra, Latvia and Georgia. The visitors saw just 2.5 total goals per game in the Nations League overall, so we expect this to be a more low scoring clash. After all, at home things have been closer for San Marino of late. They lost 1-0 to Moldova and 2-0 to both Belarus and Scotland in recent games here. That form has us backing a low scoring clash, so we’re going with under 3.5 total goals as our pick for this one.
