Major League Baseball on Saturday sees a west coast duel between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants who face off for the second of a three game series. The Giants took game one at Oracle Park after a three-run fifth inning ultimately sealed a 7-2 victory and their first win over LA this season. The result moves the Giants to a 31-26 record but have found it tough to string together a consistent run of results, trading a win for a loss in nine straight games. The visiting Dodgers still maintain a 5.5 game lead over the Giants and a one game lead over the Padres in the NL West with a 37-21 record but have struggled as of late and have now dropped six of the last 10 games. Both teams will be desperate for a win in what should be a tight contest between two bitter rivals in a nationally televised game.

Taking the mound for the Dodgers is ace Clayton Kershaw who had been out since May 7th due to joint inflammation causing pain in his lower back. The legendary lefty has been excellent in his five starts so far this year, with a perfect 5-0 record and an ERA of 1.80. Kershaw’s last start was a seven inning shutout performance and has now only allowed two runs in his last 18 innings of work. He’ll face off against Sam Long who was named the starter for the Giants, although the 26-year-old will likely only go the first two to three innings as San Francisco look set to go ahead with a bullpen game. The Giants have hit lefties well this season which could present some value in backing the home underdog despite facing off against Kershaw.
