The NFC Championship game is a late one on Sunday evening on the West Coast as the San Francisco 49ers host the Detroit Lions. The teams did not meet in the regular season but the 49ers knocked off the Lions' fellow NFC North team, the Green Bay Packers last week. That at least gives both teams something to work on this week with the Packers and the Lions going 1-1 against one another this season with each winning on the road at their opponents.

San Francisco 49ers - Detroit Lions: Form Analysis
A three-game losing streak prior to their bye week was a minor blip in the 49ers season but in general, they were the team to beat in the NFC for the entire campaign. The Baltimore Ravens came into Levi's Stadium and gave them a beating but their loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the final week of the regular season was simply down to fielding a weakened team. It was hard work for them to beat the Packers last week, entering the 4th quarter down 21-14, but they found a way to get the job done.
This is the best season that the Detroit Lions have enjoyed in 32 years, the last time they made it to the NFC decider. Their first two games in the playoffs have both been at home, 24-23 winners over the Los Angeles Rams and then 31-23 victors over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Three losses on the road this season came at the Ravens, the Cowboys and the Bears. The first two are no disgrace but the loss in the Windy City was a very disappointing performance.

San Francisco 49ers & Detroit Lions Squad Analysis
The 49ers enter the NFC Championship game in good shape. They have just a couple of players listed as questionable, Oren Burks, their inside linebacker and Kalia Davis a defensive tackle. Burks would be by far the bigger miss of that pair if he is unable to play but he was able to take part in limited practice this week. The big news is that Deebo Samuel will be suiting up after a shoulder injury left his game participation hanging in the balance.
Detroit will be missing a couple of key players with guard Jonah Jackson unable to go. The 2021 Pro Bowl selection suffered a knee injury in the Lions' win over Tampa Bay. Wide receiver Kalif Raymond is also out. He has averaged 560 yards in three seasons with the team and although he has only scored one touchdown this season, his presence in the patterns will be missed.
