After a fine outing in the Europa League, attention shifts back to the Serie A for Roma, who host Sassuolo in the 10th week of action. Roma head to this game placed sixth in the league standings, with 17 points while Sassuolo have 18 points, placed third. Roma came from a goal down to beat Young Boys 3-1 in their Thursday Europa League outing and will be hoping to extend that to the Serie A. In their last Serie A match they were blanked 4-0 by Napoli, which remains their only loss in the last five matches. They have won each of the other four games. Five of Roma’s last six matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they have five clean sheets in the last 10 matches while they have scored three goals or more in four of their last six matches. In the Serie A, Roma have scored first in three of their last four matches and have gone on to win the three. At home, they are unbeaten in the league so far this season, winning three and drawing one of the four played. Sassuolo’s unbeaten start to the league was crushed in their last game, as they went 3-0 down to Internazionale. The loss also saw them drop by a place in the standings, to third, and they will hope to rectify that, lest the drop continues. Another loss here could see Sassuolo move down to sixth, as only one point separates them from sixth placed Roma. Ahead of their loss to Inter, Sassuolo were on three straight clean sheets and they will be hoping to restore that with decent defending, but looking at Roma’s quality in attack, it will be a big task. Five of Sassuolo’s last nine matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they have conceded in six of their last nine matches while failing to score in two. Sassuolo beat Napoli in their opening game of November and as they start December, they hope their first fixture of the month comes with the same fortune. This ambition is well backed by the fact that they have won all their four away matches this season, and scored two or more goals in the four matches, while keeping two clean sheets. Their most recent match against Roma produced the only win in 15 meetings that Sassuolo have to show against their hosts. It ended 4-2 at MAPEI Stadium.
