Real Sociedad are fifth in the table and chasing Atletico Madrid hard for a place in the Champions League next season. They are five points ahead of their opponents sixth placed Villarreal, so a win will go a long way towards at least confirming a spot in the Europa League next season. Aside from a defeat at league leaders Real Madrid, Sociedad have won four of their last five league games. They recently took on Villarreal in the Copa del Rey drawing away and beating them 3-1 at home. Sociedad have won seven out of 11 at home in the league this season and take on a Villarreal side that have only won two out of ten away matches. Six of those ten have ended in draws including three of the last four, all of which have ended 0-0. With  just one win in their last five league games, they can't afford to lose this game if they want Europa League football next season.  It looks as if they are doomed this season after suffering a 4-0 home defeat to AS Roma in the first leg of their Europa League tie last Thursday. Sociedad are in fine form at present and can get the home win.
