Match Postponed - Djokovic has withdrawn due to injury

We have a repeat of last year's Roland Garros final in this year's quarter-finals. Top seeded Novak Djokovic takes on Casper Ruud who is the seventh seed for this outdoor clay court tournament. Djokovic won that final in 2023 but he comes into this match with concerns over both his fitness and form. He's yet to reach the final of a tournament this year and has already dropped four sets in this tournament. Both of his matches against 30th seed Lorenzo Musetti and the 23rd seed Francisco Cerundolo went to a final set. Not just that but the defending champion lost two of the first three sets in both of those matches. He also picked up an injury in Monday's match against Cerundolo. He's in danger of losing his place at the top of the rankings and is only second in the live list. The Serb has beaten Ruud five times in their six matches. However, Ruud won their most recent match played on clay in Monte Carlo this year.

While Djokovic is yet to reach a final in 2024, Casper Ruud has won two clay court titles and reached another final. His two title wins came in Barcelona and most recently in Geneva. He also made it to the final in Monte Carlo. Ruud is down to 11th in the live rankings due to all the points being defendeded from reaching the final here in 2023. In the ATP Live Race, he's in fourth (Djokovic is tenth) and will move up a place if winning this match. At Roland Garros this year, he's dropped sets in three of his four matches. Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina took him to a final set in round two. In Monday's last 16 match, he beat 12th seed Taylor Fritz in four sets, losing the third. We tip him to beat Novak Djokovic.
