11th-place Nottingham Forest return to the City Ground in good spirits after claiming their first win of the campaign in a dominant showing away to Aston Villa. They’re now presented with a golden opportunity to make it six points from six as they face 20th-placed Coventry City for matchday 5 of the Premier League. Indeed, it took Glasner’s Tricky Trees a few weeks to get up and running and they’ll be looking to kick on after an extremely promising performance.
Coventry, meanwhile, are trying to avoid writing their names in the history books any further for all the wrong reasons. Another loss paired with failure to find the net again would have the Sky Blues one step closer to equaling Crystal Palace’s nightmare 2017-18 campaign, where they set an English top flight record with seven defeats without scoring to start a season.
The pressure is certainly starting to ramp up on Coventry and manager Frank Lampard as they desperately search for a spark to ignite their season. Unfortunately for them, our prediction is going against the visitors in what could be another tough outing for Lampard’s side.

Nottingham Forest - Coventry City: Form Analysis
Nottingham Forest were excellent in their 2-1 away victory over Aston Villa last weekend. They created 2.28 xG to Villa’s 0.82 along, outshot Villa 22 to 7 and created six clear cut scoring chances.
That was the first win for the Tricky Trees this season after previously having gone four straight without a victory across all competitions.
They opened the campaign with back-to-back defeats in the EPL and EFL Cup, before an impressive 2-2 stalemate away at Anfield and a goalless draw with Tottenham. Forest are now unbeaten in their last three straight.
Coventry’s start marks only the fifth time a team has lost all four opening fixtures while failing to score!
Fulham’s draw with Liverpool last week means Coventry stand alone as the only team yet to record a point. To make matters even worse, not only are they unable to generate any attacking returns, but they’ve also been wide open at the back, conceding a league-high 10 goals.
They would find no reprieve in their midweek EFL Cup third round outing as they were beaten 3-1 on home turf against Aston Villa. That means that the Sky Blues have now conceded eight times in the last 180 minutes of football, although a small consolation will be that they managed to find the net against Premier League opposition.

Nottingham Forest & Coventry City Squad Analysis
New signing Liam Delap opened his Nottingham Forest account last weekend and will hope that it’s a sign of things to come after a difficult campaign with Chelsea last year.
However, it’s Morgan Gibbs-White that is at the centre of everything that Forest do on the attacking end. After a breakout 15 goal, 4 assist campaign last season, the 26-year-old has started 2026-27 strongly. Gibbs-White scored the penalty to give his side a point in a 2-2 draw away with Liverpool before assisting Igor Jesus’ winner in the 88th minute against Aston Villa in a man-of-the-match performance.
Gibbs-White created a game-high seven chances (including three big chances) in Forest’s win over Villa!
Unavailable for manager Oliver Glasner is towering defender Nikola Milenkovic, along with Jair Cunha and Nicolo Savona.
Visiting boss Frank Lampard really has his work cut out for him this season. His cause isn’t helped by the fact that he’s dealing with six injured players, among them Haji Wright, Aurele Amenda and Josh Eccles, while new signing Taiwo Awoniyi remains suspended after his sending off against Brighton.
Striker Ellis Simms missed the midweek cup match against Aston Villa but is expected to be fit in time for this fixture.
New signing Yann Gboho made his Coventry debut in their EFL Cup loss to Villa, although he could lose out here to Gustavo Hamer.

Our Nottingham Forest vs Coventry City Prediction
This is a dangerous spot for Coventry. They’ll be meeting a Nottingham Forest side that is coming off their best performance of the season so far. The hosts are beginning to settle into Oliver Glasner’s style of play and should be fully confident of taking all three points here.
Coventry, on the other hand, haven’t shown enough so far this season to comfortably back them. We still see enough value at the current price to back a home win. Our Nottingham Forest vs Coventry prediction: Nottingham Forest wins.
