Whether it be an Olympics, European or World championships, Norway are always in the hunt to win the title. They are the reigning European champions and take on Spain in the semi-finals of the 2021 World Championships. Norway have won seven of the last nine European titles and only once since 2005 have they failed to reach this stage of the World Championships, last winning the title six years ago. They got off to a strong start in this tournament, winning all three preliminary round group games and with a +71 goal difference. Two of those three wins saw them score at least 40 goals. Their good form continued in the main round with a 43-7 hammering of Puerto Rico but then they lost a lead against Sweden and drew 30-30 before a narrow win over defending world champions (but now out of the tournament) the Netherlands to finish top of the group In the last eight, Norway beat the Russian Handball Federation with nine goals from Mark.

Spain are bidding to reach their second successive World Championship final, after losing to the Netherlands in 2019. They haven't fared that well in tournaments since (only ninth at the Olympics) but have hit form in these championships. The Spaniards won all three of their matches in their preliminary round group, winning each game by at least 12 points. In their main round group, Spain had a narrow 28-26 win over Japan and then won two other close games against Croatia and Brazil to clinch their place in the knockout stages. In the last eight, Spain beat Germany 26-21 to set up this match against Norway. This looks a step too far for them though. Back the Norwegians to reach another final and lead at both half and full time.
