Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is the highest remaining seed in the Chengdu Open. The second seed takes on in-form qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili in the last four of this tournament. Fokina is in the form to win this but our prediction is he'll do so with more than 21.5 games played.

Last year saw Alejandro Davidovich Fokina reach three ATP Tour finals on this surface, losing them all. This year has seen him win one grass court tournament in Mallorca. This is his second ATP Tour outdoor hard court semi-final of the year. The other was in Adelaide at the start of 2026.

This is his first tournament since the end of July. Wins have come against unseeded Juan Manuel Cerundolo and qualifier Alexandre Muller without a set being lost.

There's been one previous match between these players. Basilashvili won that in three sets, despite failing to win a game in set one. That was played five years ago on an indoor hard court.

Nikoloz Basilashvili has had to win five matches to reach this semi-final, two in qualifying. This is the first time in 2026 that he has made it past round one of an ATP Tour outdoor hard court tournament this year. All five of his wins have come in straight sets, most recently beating Jenson Brooksby in the last eight.
