It is bottom against top in League Two this weekend as struggling Newport County host Walsall at Rodney Parade. The Exiles have yet to win at home this season, which has played a major role in their struggles. In contrast, the Saddlers sit at the top of the table and have lost just two of seven league games on the road. Here's our prediction for the match.
Newport's problems at home are behind their lowly league position. From their 14 games they have taken just 11 points and defensively, only Bristol Rovers (25) have conceded more than the 23 County have conceded. Walsall are top of the table at present with 26 points from 14 games. They lead Swindon on goal difference.
Recent form does point to some positives for Newport. A 1-0 win away to Accrington Stanley was followed by a 2-0 home loss to Cheltenham Town. But after that they earned a superb 3-0 win away at Harrogate. In the FA Cup, they faced Gillingham, earning a 2-2 draw at home, before winning the tie 4-3 on penalties.
Unusually for table-toppers, Walsall's recent form isn't that strong. A surprise home defeat to Barrow, by a 2-1 scoreline was then followed by a 1-0 defeat away at Cheltenham. They then drew 0-0 with Chelsea U21s in the Football League Trophy and in the FA Cup last weekend got back to winning ways with a 3-0 win at Eastleigh.
