New York Yankees vs Tampa Bay Rays Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB

A matchup between two of the AL’s best sees the New York Yankees facing off against division rivals Tampa Bay at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The Yankees continue their assault on Major League Baseball with a league best 44 wins and 16 losses and are coming off a 18-4 beatdown of the Chicago Cubs in their last outing – their most runs scored since September of 2020. The Rays are next up to see if they can slow down the seemingly unstoppable Bronx Bombers, who have now ripped off 11 wins from their last 12 games. Tampa Bay, to their credit, have fared well against the Yankees in recent encounters and split a series 2-2 when the teams met at the end of May. The Rays are 35-25 on the year which puts them third in the AL East, trailing second place Toronto by just a game. They’ll take their 14-12 road record up north to see if it can stand up against the Yanks stellar 21-6 home record.

Gerrit Cole gets the start for New York in this one with the 31-year-old righty sporting a 5-1 record with a 3.63 ERA on the season. It will be interesting to see how Cole responds after a nightmare outing in his last start which saw him give up seven earned runs and five homers in arguably the worst performance of his career. Taking the mound for the Rays is Corey Kluber, the former two-time Cy Young award winner is 3-2 on the season with a 3.88 ERA. These two faced off in the third game of the earlier series with each starter putting in a good performance. Both pitchers went six innings, each giving up just a run but it was ultimately Kluber who got the win on the day as the Rays would run out 3-1 victors.
