The New York Mets look to improve upon their NL best 41-22 record when they host the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field in Queens. This is the second of a three-game series between the two ball clubs, with the Mets taking the first game 4-0 thanks to eight shutout innings from starter Chris Bassitt who only allowed three hits on the night. The win made it two straight for the Mets who now hold a five game lead over the defending champion Atlanta Braves in the NL East. For the visiting Brewers, the loss means that they have now lost nine of their last 10 games as Milwaukee's ice cold run continues. Despite the abysmal recent results, the Brewers are still well positioned in the NL Central and trail the first place Cardinals by two and a half games.

David Peterson gets his sixth start for the New York Mets with the lefty seeking to add another win to his 3-0 record and ERA of 3.00. The 26-year-old has been fortunate to have one of baseball’s best offenses providing him with plenty of run support as the Mets have scored a combined 35 runs in the last three starts for Peterson. He’ll come up against last year's NL Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes who has a 3-4 record on the year with an impressive 2.48 ERA in 12 starts. Burnes has been shaky in his last two starts, both of which finished as losses for the Brew Crew, while only going a combined eight innings and giving up six earned runs. He’ll have to be on the top of his game here against the highest scoring offense in the league if the Brewers are to get back to winning ways.
