New York Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB

The NL East fourth-place New York Mets play host to the NL West second-place Arizona Diamondbacks for this Thursday afternoon MLB matchup. The Mets will be looking to close this four game series out with three straight wins after taking games two and three. New York dropped the first game of the series but responded in excellent fashion with a 7-4 game two win and a 7-1 win in their last outing. The hosts have now won three of their last four and will hope to keep the positive momentum going for this one. The Mets have very faint hopes of a spot in the MLB postseason as they would need to be close to perfect in the run-in. They currently trail the final Wild Card spot by eight games with less than 20 games remaining in the season. NY will start this game with Kodai Senga on the mound who is 10-7 on the year with a 3.07 ERA. 

On the other side, the Diamondbacks cannot afford to drop games as they find themselves in a Wild Card battle that could go down to the wire. Arizona currently sits second in their division, 13 games behind the runaway NL West winning LA Dodgers. This means that the DBacks will have to enter the postseason through the Wild Card. They currently hold one of the positions with their 76 win, 71 loss record. However, only a half game separates Arizona, Cincinnati, Miami and San Francisco who will be battling for the final two spots. With back-to-back losses and three defeats from their last four, Arizona desperately needs to get back to winning ways. Merrill Kelly will be the pitcher tasked with snapping their losing run. The righty is 11-6 on the season with a 3.16 ERA.
