Group 1, League A of the UEFA Nations League is one of the tightest in the competition so far with just five points the difference between the leaders and the bottom side. On Match Day 5 of the competition, third placed Netherlands will be hosting bottom placed Bosnia-Herzegovina. Netherlands are on five points while Bosnia have managed two points so far and either nation will be keen on winning this as the race to avoid relegation intensifies. Both these sides have not had the best of runs recently; the Dutch have six wins in their last 12 matches but none has come in the last five matches. They have drawn the last three, having lost the earlier two and one problem they have really faced is a blunt attack. Netherlands have scored just twice in the last five matches, and these goals have come in their last two matches, with Donny van de Beek scoring both. The team’s confidence has really dropped, they had to come from down in both games, and they have just one clean sheet in the last five matches. They are winless in the last three Nations League games and have so far failed to match the high standards they set last season when they got to the final of the tournament. With three wins in their four Nations League games at home, they will be confident of sinking Bosnia but they need to improve on their home form, having posted no win in the last three outings there. In their last four home matches, they have not scored more than one goal. Their most recent game, was a friendly match at home to Spain, and van de Beek came to their rescue again with a 47th minute equalizer as they played to a 1-1 draw.

Bosnia-Herzegovina are on the brink of relegation, and can’t afford another loss here. They are already on a run of six matches without a win and have failed to score in their last three matches. It has not been a very good run for Bosnia despite the large array of stars in the team; they have just three wins in their last 15 matches, and lost eight in the process. Bosnia are coming from a 2-0 friendly loss to Iran, after an earlier 3-0 loss at the hands of Poland and have now conceded two or more goals in five of their last 10 matches. Just like Netherlands, Bosnia are also struggling in attack; they have scored more than one goal in just two of their last 10 matches. They head to this game winless in their last five Nations League matches, having failed to score in three of these and have lost two of their last three matches in the competition. Away from home, they are without a win in the last three Nations League matches. Generally, Bosnia’s away form is not impressive – they have managed just one win in the last 10 away matches across all competitions.
