Both the Netherlands and Austria won their opening games in Group C and as they prepare for face off, each will be eyeing a win to take control of the group. The Netherlands had to endure tough final minutes to see off Ukraine 3-2 while Austria had to push late on to register a 3-1 win over minnows North Macedonia. The conditions will be different when the favorites in this group face off. Netherlands showed their two sides in the Ukraine game – that they can be devastating in attack, but still have glaring shortages in defence. The Dutch have scored in each of their last 10 matches and have netted two or more in their last eight. However, they have three clean sheets only in their last 10 matches and in three of the last six matches, they have conceded two goals in each. Seven of their last 10 matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored.

Austria were not as comfortable as they should have been against North Macedonia. The final score might not be reflective of that though. They took the lead in the game before getting pegged back for a draw at half time and it took two goals in the final 12 minutes to see them collect three points. Going to this game, one thing about Austria is that while they don’t have many clean sheets, they aren’t short in attacking quality. They have one clean sheet only in the last eight matches, signaling defensive fragilities that could be exposed by the Dutch. They’ve however scored in seven of their last 10 matches and on five occasions netting two or more goals.
