Tuesday night will bring us Game 1 of the second-round NBA Playoff series between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors at the Target Center. The winner of this series between the Timberwolves and the Warriors will face either OKC or the Nuggets in the conference final. Let’s get into the match prediction.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are aiming to make it to back-to-back conference finals and enter the semis following an impressive 4-1 thrashing of the star-studded Lakers in the first round. 

Anthony Edwards was sensational in the first round, averaging 26.8 points per game, Julius Randle turned it up, averaging 22.6 PPG, and Jaden McDaniels did a good job disrupting Luka Doncic. 

Additionally, Minnesota’s defence was solid, limiting the Lakers to under 100 points in three games. They will try to emulate that against the Warriors, who struggled at times against the Rockets' double big-man combination.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors almost became only the 15th team in NBA history to squander a 3-1 series lead but got the job done in Game 7, beating the Rockets 103-89 on the road. 

Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler averaged 24.0 and 18.3 PPG in the first round, while Buddy Hield drained 33 points in Game 7 after poor performances over the first six games. 

The keys for the Warriors in this series will be to find a way to slow the Timberwolves' high tempo and limit Edwards’ impact. While Minnesota open as favourites, Golden State did win the regular season series 3-1.
