Magda Linette vs Diana Shnaider Prediction & Betting Tips - Thailand Open

Diana Shnaider, unseeded, will seek her first win of the season when she takes on top seed Magda Linette at the Thailand Open. The two will battle in the first round with the winner going on to play either Paula Badosa or Lanlana Tararudee next. Magda Linette has had a poor start to the season and has lost three of the four matches she has contested. The Pole is coming off a first-round exit at the Australian Open. She was forced to retire in the second set of her battle with former Melbourne champion Caroline Wozniacki. But as she has had tremendous success over the years in Hua Hin, Linette will be confident of a winning start here. The 31-year-old is a former Hua Hin champion, winning the title in 2020. Linette’s struggles in the early stages of the season have seen her plummet down the WTA standings. She is currently ranked 56th in the live ranking having dropped 32 places.

Diana Shnaider is faring even worse than Linette in 2024. The young Russian has lost all three matches she has so far played this year. She began the season in Brisbane and then Hobart and is now coming off a first-round exit at the Australian Open. The 19-year-old fell in straight sets to Jasmine Paolini. She will be hoping the motivation brought by playing for the first time at a tournament allows her to get her first win. Shnaider isn’t a dominant player on hard courts and has so far in her career compiled a 25-20 record on the surface. Her poor start to the year has seen her drop right back out of the WTA top 100. The former world number 60 is now ranked 108th in the live ranking.
