Madagascar and Comoros will contest the third-place playoff at the COSAFA Cup this Sunday. The two were losing semi-finalists on Friday and will hope to pick something from the competition before heading home. Below we have a prediction of the match.

Madagascar, who advanced to the playoffs after topping Group C, had a tough draw in the semis, facing defending champions Angola. It didn’t go all well for the Islanders, who found themselves trailing 2-0 after 40 minutes.

Attempts at getting back on terms in the second half, with four changes after halftime, bore no fruit. They would score a late consolation to end the game 4-1 losers.

Comoros will be contesting for the third place for the second straight year. In the semis, they had a tough time out against the hosts, South Africa. The island nation failed to settle fast in the game and paid a heavy price for it.

They were already 2-0 down after 15 minutes, the first concession being an own goal from Idriss Mohamed. Boitumelo Radiopane made their work even tougher with a second for South Africa on 14 minutes.

With South Africa firmly in the lead, they slowed down a bit, and Comoros got their footing, Madi Ibrahim pulling one goal back. They would be pegged back again in the second half as South Africa restored the two-goal cushion.
