Luxembourg vs Portugal Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Prediction
Portugal will feel a sense of disappointment going to their third game in Group A of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, away to Luxembourg. The European champions drew 2-2 away to Serbia but stay joint top with four points. Luxembourg registered a surprise win away in Ireland to rise to third place with three points. For the hosts, this will be the second game of the qualifiers and psyched by the win over Ireland, they’ll definitely be eying another big scalp. To achieve that they will have to improve on their scoring form, having failed to score in three of their last five matches. The last time Portugal lost a game, they conceded twice, whereas Luxembourg haven’t been able to score more than once in their last five matches. They’ve however been tight at the back, conceding more than one goal in just three of their last 10 matches. Still, much improvement at home is needed, with the team having won just one of their last nine home matches. They have two clean sheets in 11 home matches and lost seven. Luxembourg have blown hot and cold in previous World Cup qualification matches, and it comes into focus now that they are from the win over Ireland. In the previous qualifiers, they drew with France in Paris but in the game that came right after, they lost 8-0 to Sweden. Last time they had a tie against Portugal, it ended 5-0 in Portugal’s favor. They go here unbeaten in their last two World Cup qualification matches at home but they have six losses in the last 10.
Portugal are unbeaten in their last three matches, and have only one loss in 12. They’ll still be hurting from the draw with Serbia when they head to Luxembourg but that won’t help, and with the experience in the team, they’ll know the sooner they move on, the better. A first half brace from Diogo Jota put Portugal in frame for a second win in the qualifiers but Serbia had other plans in the second half and in the end the two shared a point apiece. With VAR not in use in the game, Portugal had what seemed like a clear goal ruled out in a dramatic finish. They will definitely rise from the disappointment and having six clean sheets in the last 10 matches, they surely have what it takes. Portugal have failed to score in just three of the last 10 matches and head here unbeaten in their last five away matches as well as 10 straight wins in previous matches against Luxembourg. In World Cup qualification matches, Portugal are unbeaten in 11, with eight clean sheets and 10 wins. They’ve scored at least twice in eight of the last 10 World Cup qualification matches. Away from home, they have seven wins and one loss in the last 10 in World Cup qualification matches.

Our Luxembourg vs Portugal Prediction
Luxembourg enjoyed their last outing more than Portugal and will be hoping to make it even sweeter with a win over the European champions. The problem though is that they haven’t been very impressive at home, as well as against Portugal. Meanwhile, Portugal have a good run in away matches in the World Cup qualifiers and we are backing them to lead in both halves.
