The pressure is ramping up in the NFL as we reach week 15 of the regular season with teams looking to position themselves for the postseason. The Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans face off at SoFi Stadium in downtown LA on Sunday with both teams having a lot on the line. The Titans would currently make the playoffs should the season end today thanks to their 7-6 record placing them first in an admittedly weak AFC South division. The Titans are on a three game losing streak following their 36-22 loss to the Jaguars last week but still hold a healthy lead over the 5-8 Jags in second. 

They’ll have to beat a Chargers team coming off a potentially season saving 23-17 home win over the Dolphins in their last outing, as a loss would have made it extremely difficult to qualify for the playoffs. As things stand, Los Angeles would miss out if the season ended today but at 7-6, they are positioned to take advantage should they continue their winning ways and the Patriots, Dolphins and potentially one of the Bengals or Ravens slip up as we head into the home stretch.

Tennessee is elite against the run, allowing the third fewest rushing yards per game at 81.3. However, this could work into the Chargers hands as they are a team that attempts the third fewest rushes per game at only 22.7. Even in their latest win against Miami, a game where LA lead wire-to-wire, quarterback Justin Herbert still threw the ball 51 times. It’s understandable when you have a young QB with the immense talent that Herbert possesses and the Chargers clearly trust him over their running corps, even when protecting a lead. For this matchup, it spells a game that could very well see a lot of points scored as the Titans have been abysmal against the pass this season, allowing the second-most yards per game through the air at 283.7.
