Liverpool have managed to cope with their growing injury list and will head to their home game against Atalanta in Group D of the UEFA Champions League hoping to seal their second round place. The Reds lead in the group with nine points, five more than Atalanta who are placed third. Ahead of this game, Liverpool claimed a comfortable 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League and will be well psyched for the challenge ahead. They have been good in attack recently and head to this clash having scored in each of their last 10 matches. In the last 10 matches, the Reds have scored two or more in eight and have five clean sheets; the last five matches alone have produced 13 goals and they have four straight home wins, having scored two or more in these four. So far in the Champions League, Liverpool have not conceded a goal and have scored nine, which was heavily helped by a 5-0 win over Atalanta in their last Champions League game. The Premier League champions have failed to score in just one of their last 10 Champions League matches and have scored two or more in seven of the nine. In their last four Champions League matches, Liverpool have led at half time and scored in both halves in the four as well. One key player in their recent rise has been Diogo Jota; the Portuguese forward goes to this game with seven goals in five matches. Jota scored a hat trick against Atalanta in the first meeting and in his form, there’s a big possibility he will score again.

Atalanta have not enjoyed quite a good run as Liverpool have. They head to this game winless in the last two matches, and with just one win in the last six matches. It has not been working well for them in defence as well, with the team having conceded in eight of their last 10 matches. While they were one of the best attacking teams in Europe last season, Atalanta have lost a bit of that touch this season. They have scored one goal in their last three matches and they will hope a run of three unbeaten away matches can inspire them here, having won two and drawn one. This game will however be decided by how well they will defend, looking at Liverpool’s strength in attack. Atalanta have one clean sheet in six Champions League matches and have won one in the last four, while conceding 12 goals in their last five Champions League matches. They have three straight away wins in the Champions League and will want to impose that form on Liverpool here, and especially having scored in four straight away matches. Their last three away Champions League matches have seen them score three or more and they will hope that aspect comes to play here.
