The Serie A weekend kicks off with Lazio hosting Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. Flying high in third place, a record run of ten wins has propelled Lazio into title contention. They are currently six points behind leaders Juventus with a game in hand. Sampdoria, meanwhile, are fighting against relegation. Coached by Claudio Ranieri, they are in a decent run of form having only lost one of their last four matches. The Blucerchiati are five points clear of relegation in 16th place but know that picking up points in Rome is a tall task only made taller by their poor recent record against Lazio, losing five of their last six meetings. 

There is a glimmer of hope of Ranieri, and that is the fact that Lazio have been unconvincing in recent games. Napoli came to their patch last weekend and racked up more shots and passes as well as greater possession. Yet Lazio emerged victorious thanks to a late Ciro Immobile strike, his 20th of the season. Simone Inzaghi's team are in the winning habit and have a knack for pulling results out of the bag. Six of their last eight matches have been won after going in at half-time level. Another stat suggesting that Lazio are running out of steam is that their last three wins have been with a one-goal margin. We're not suggesting Sampdoria could pull off a shock. What we are tipping is that this clinical Lazio side may win without setting the world aflame. Backing a draw at half-time and a Lazio win at full-time could be the value bet of the weekend.
