Naomi Osaka and Karolina Muchova are set for another clash at the US Open. The two will face off at the quarter-final, to mark their fifth meeting. The winner here will face Amanda Anisimova or Iga Swiatek next. Read on for our prediction of the match.

These two are facing off for the second time this year, Osaka having trounced Muchova at the Australian Open. It will be the third straight meeting at the majors, after Muchova’s win in Flushing Meadows.

Muchova has been to three semis this year and is also seeking a third last-four appearance here. Her 2-1 win over Marta Kostyuk in the fourth round marked a fourth straight three-set win, meaning she’s played five hours more than Osaka. Muchova is 14th in the live rankings.

Osaka hasn’t lost a quarter-final this season and will be hoping to extend the same here. She came into this tournament right from a run to the final in Montreal and hopes for the same.

A four-time Grand Slam winner, Osaka is on the chase for a third US Open title. This is the first time she’s come this far at Flushing Meadows since winning her latest title, in 2020.

The Japanese is coming off a straight-sets win over Cori Gauff and has only dropped one set. This win lifted her to a 31-12 run so far, and she’s now 20th in the live rankings.
