Raphael Collignon is coming off a shock five-set victory over 12th seed and former US Open finalist Casper Ruud. The Belgian clawed his way from a 2-1 hole, winning the final two sets 6-4, 7-5.
He had earlier eliminated lucky loser Daniel Elahi Galan in straight sets. The win over Ruud, the world number 12, is Collignon’s biggest win of his career and has seen him improve to 26-16.
Competing largely in the challenger circuit, Collignon has shot up 16 places in the live ranking, returning to the top 100 at number 91.
