Italy know their job in this home UEFA Nations League game against Portugal. They have to win this match to maintain any hope of winning this group, anything less will mean Portugal are the group winners with one match to play. The Italians have four points from their first three games, two points behind Portugal who have a game in hand. Poland are already doomed to finish bottom and be relegated to League B, so Italy know they can give it their all in this game. The problem is they aren't in good form and have only won two of their last 11 games, beating Saudi Arabia and winning away in Poland in this group and that was with a 92nd minute winner. Goals are a big problem for them and they have only managed to score twice in a game, once in the last 15 games and none in the last six.
Portugal only need to avoid defeat here and even if they were beaten, would only need to beat Poland at home on Sunday to win the group. They will again be without Cristiano Ronaldo but haven't missed him that much with three wins and a draw so far this season. They have only lost two of their last 20 games and have won their last two games against Italy which is a big improvement considering they had lost the previous ten. Italy have gone 13 home games without defeat but the lack of goals and poor form makes it hard to back them to win. Go for under 2.5 goals to be scored in the game.
