Ireland welcomes Wale to the Aviva Stadium for this match in the United Nations League B. The home team had a disappointing 1-0 loss away to Armenia in their first match and will be keen to bounce back with a win in their first home match. Ireland came into this competition on the back of a dismal World Cup qualifying tournament where they finished in third place in their group with just two wins in their eight matches. Their defeat to Armenia came as a major surprise especially because they were unbeaten in the seven matches prior to this. Ireland do however have an excellent home record as they are unbeaten in their last six matches with two wins and four draws. They have only lost two of their last 12 home matches but have also only won two games in this period.

Ukraine will be devastated after their loss to Wales in their last match. The defeat in the final of the World Cup playoff competition will be especially hard to bear as they had numerous chances in the match but failed to convert those chances into goals. They will be particularly aggrieved that they were not awarded a penalty when replays showed their claims were legitimate. Ukraine have only lost once in their last 13 matches across all competitions. They had an excellent 3-1 against Scotland in the playoff semi-final but could not replicate their performance in the final and it remains to be seen if they can lift themselves for this match.
