It’s already been a big week for Hungary after qualifying for the European Championship finals. Now a home win over Turkey could see them win promotion to League A of the UEFA Nations League. Hungary qualified for the 2016 European Championships but that was their first time in the finals since 1972. The win over Iceland last week was a real late show as they trailed 1-0 going into the 88th minute. The weekend saw them held to a 1-1 home draw by Serbia. That left them second in the group on eight points, only behind Russia (who lost in Turkey on Sunday) on head-to-head results. The equation therefore is that Hungary will win the group only if avoiding defeat in this game and getting a better result than Russia who travel to Serbia. Hungary are unbeaten in their last five games with only one loss in the last seven. At home, that Euro win over Iceland is their only victory in the last four played.
Turkey lost the reverse game 1-0 to Hungary but could still win the group. They will need to win this match and see Serbia beat Russia. If Serbia did win and Turkey lost this match, then the Turks would be relegated, so there’s a lot to play for here. Turkey have six points from their five games, two behind both Turkey and Hungary. They came from behind to beat Russia at home on Sunday, extending their unbeaten run to six games. However, it also ended a run of seven games without a win. Their last five games before the win over Russia had all ended in draws, two of them 3-3 and one 2-2. Away form has seen just one win in the last five and that was in Andorra. The other four have all been drawn, including games in France and Germany. Turkey have to go all out to get a win here and the suggested bet is on both teams to score, a side bet on a draw might be a winner too.

It's going to be a tense night when the final games in this Nations League group are played. Only Serbia can't win the group and they have avoiding relegation on their mind. Hungarian football is doing well at present with European Championship qualification and Ferencvaros in the Champions League group stages. They have to get a better result than Russia to have a chance of winning this group but would be in a much stronger position if beating Serbia at home at the weekend. Turkey won in Russia to put them in with a chance of winning the group but just concede too many goals. A bet on both teams scoring is the one to make here.
